Fun Run, Trap Door Tour & Costume Ball

Show you support for The Astor Street Opry Company, the longest running community theater group on the North Coast, by purchasing your Miss Virginia and Miss Vivian buttons from some of our favorite local establishments!

The contest works like this…each of the below establishments chooses a representative as their “Miss Vivian”, the rough and sturdy saloon owner from our shanghaied story, who’s just trying to make a livin’ in this rough mans world or for their “Miss Virginia” our Sweet Heroine who is trying to find her hero, Eric. They each sell a custom made ASOC button with their image on it. Each button sale counts as a vote! Whoever sells the most…WINS! (YES... this truly is an election that can be bought!!!)

Our 2012 Miss Virginia Contestants are: Misses Brooke Doolittle & Dawna Reynolds KickAss Koffee #1, Miss Maggie Mae 3 Cups Coffee, Miss Kristy Rusty Cup, Miss Henry Balensifer WheelHouse Coffee, Misses Jessica Krotzer & Allex Kutrich KickAss Koffee #2, Miss Thornton Tice Street 14 Coffee, Miss Michala Warren Cloud’s In My Coffee, Miss Paige Simson The Coffee Addiction, Misses Shannon Malcolm & Renee Meiffren Coffee Girl, Miss LeAnne Eager Undercover Coffee, Miss Cassandra Bertrand Java Monkey, Miss April Wilson Loco Mocho and for the ASOC Miss Serena.

But wait there is more! On the morning of Saturday August 18th join our Miss Virginia contestants for THE MISS VIRGINIA 2 mile + 4K almost MILE K “FUN RUN COFFEE RUN” (or walk if you like!), hosted by our own Michael “Ole” Wangen and sponsored by Napa Auto Parts of Warrenton and Old Town Framing Company in Astoria.

This Run/Walk is just as it sez…for fun! It starts at East End COFFEE GIRL at 9:00am and will proceed 2 miles + 4K down the Astoria Riverwalk ending at Journey’s End Coffee Stand on the West End of Town. The winners will receive fabulous prizes and the chance for bragging rights! Runners can register the day of the event or by phone to our ticket box office. There is a small fee for singles of $15 and for 3-Person teams $35. The first 50 pre-registered runners will receive a fabulous limited edition Miss Virginia tee shirt as a ‘Thanks for doing the Run” take home gift. Plus all runners will receive a free GIFT CARD Red Star World Wear with a value up to $500. BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE!

It all builds to the fun evening of Saturday August 18th starting when you can “Come Aboard” for the Miss Vivian tour of “Shanghai Trap Doors” of our contestant’s watering holes! Our passengers will meet at 6:00 pm at the ASOC Playhouse to load up on the “Sundial Travel Fun Bus” to tour twelve 2012 MISS VIVIAN CONTESTANTS. At each stop tourists will sample their special “Shanghaied Cocktail” and hear their Trap Door Story created just for this unique event! There will be a fee for the crawl and space is limited so call 503-325-6104 to sign up!

The tour ends back at the ASOC Playhouse where the 9th Annual Shanghaied Costume Ball will be just beginning! (10:30 pm to 1:00am). Entrance is $10 fee at the door couples $15. There will be fun hot dance music along with special entertainment and prizes for Best Costumes! Then at 11:15pm button selling stops as the judges go into a sound proof room to tally the results of the Contests. At approx midnight the judges will reappear and they will make the grand announcement declaring the winners for: Best Cocktail, Shanghaied Tale, Miss Virginia Love Story, Coffee Drink and Best Costumes! Next comes the Crowning of Miss Vivian AND Miss Virginia 2011.
